New Year Makeover Checklist 2027

This checklist turns a vague makeover wish into dated, tickable steps: fast grooming wins in week 1, skin and hair in weeks 2–4, sleep and movement in weeks 5–8, and a fair review in weeks 9–12. Copy it into a notes app and tick one box at a time.
What is a New Year makeover checklist?
A New Year makeover checklist is a tickable list of grooming, skin, hair, posture, style, sleep, and photo tasks for the new year. It breaks the goal into weekly actions. You tick off what you did. Missed items restart the next week.
A makeover is not a new face. It is the same face, better maintained: cleaner grooming, steadier habits, better posture, and clothes that fit. Work through this checklist inside one Aura Cycle — 90 days — and pair it with the 90-day plan for 2027 and the New Year Glow-Up 2027 hub. If you miss a week, keep going from where you are; the checklist is a guide, not a verdict.
How to use this checklist
- One section at a time. Finish week 1 before opening week 2. A checklist you finish beats a long one you abandon.
- Tick, don't redo. A missed item stays missed. Move on to the next item instead of doubling up.
- One change per area. Change one skin product, one hair habit, or one style item at a time, so you know what helped.
- Take the photos. Day 0, Day 30, Day 60, Day 90 — same spot, same daylight, same angle. Without them, you will forget where you started.
Week 1: fast wins
- ☐ Take your Day 0 photo: daylight, neutral expression, no filter.
- ☐ Book a haircut. Bring two or three reference photos of people with a similar hair type.
- ☐ Tidy brows: clean the stray hairs, keep your natural shape.
- ☐ Trim and clean nails; add lip balm to your daily carry.
- ☐ Define the beard neckline and cheek lines, if you keep a beard.
- ☐ Set three posture reminders a day: shoulders back and down, chin level, stand tall.
- ☐ Pick a fixed wake time and a 30-minute wind-down: dim lights, no scrolling.
- ☐ Clear the wardrobe: one bag of what no longer fits or you never wear.
Weeks 2–4: skin, hair, style
- ☐ Start the skincare core: cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen in the morning; cleanser and moisturiser at night. Details in our beginner skincare guide.
- ☐ Get your second cut and keep the shape. Ask the barber what suits your maintenance level.
- ☐ Fix one style gap: well-fitting dark trousers, clean shoes, or a plain tee that fits. See our style guide.
- ☐ Check your photo setup: face a window, phone at eye level, neutral background. See how to take a good scan photo.
- ☐ Take your Day 30 Aura Check-in photo in the same spot as Day 0.
- ☐ If a product irritates your skin, stop it and return to the core three. If you have a skin condition, see a dermatologist instead of stacking products.
Weeks 5–8: sleep, movement, photos
- ☐ Keep the wake time steady, including weekends, within an hour.
- ☐ Walk daily — a 10-minute walk after lunch is enough to start.
- ☐ Add strength work two or three times a week: bodyweight sessions at home or a beginner gym plan. See our home workout guide and gym beginners guide.
- ☐ Eat regular meals with protein, vegetables, and water. For larger weight goals, speak to a doctor or dietitian rather than following extreme plans.
- ☐ Retake your photo at Day 60 in the same setup. Compare Day 60 to Day 0, not to yesterday.
- ☐ Review your Aura Streak: which days slipped, and what was the trigger? Fix the trigger, not yourself.
Weeks 9–12: review
- ☐ Take your Day 90 Aura Check-in photo in the same spot as Day 0.
- ☐ Compare Day 0, 30, 60, and 90 side by side in the same light.
- ☐ Name what improved and what stayed the same. Keep the habits behind the improvements.
- ☐ Pick one focus for the next Aura Cycle — the area that is still lowest.
- ☐ Keep the routine steady into the next cycle. The routine that works is the one you will still do in month four.
What not to put on the list
Leave these off, however often they appear in New Year content: new products the week of an event, crash diets, extreme routines, and anything that promises a fast change. Face exercises, chewing devices, and similar shortcuts do not burn fat from one spot — fat loss is whole-body and gradual. A checklist earns trust by what it leaves out. For the full reasoning, read the truth about jawline and the honest fat-loss guide.

How long does the checklist take each day?
About 15 minutes of routine work a day, plus one longer session a week for a haircut, a wardrobe check, or a photo. If a week feels crowded, do the daily items and move the rest to the next week.
Do I need to buy anything for this makeover?
No. The checklist starts with habits and grooming you can do with what you already own. A haircut and a few well-fitting pieces help later, but they are not required to begin.
What if I fall behind on the checklist?
Keep going from where you are. Do not redo missed items and do not double up. A checklist with half the boxes ticked and carried to the end beats a perfect week followed by quitting.
Can I follow this checklist on a small budget?
Yes. The highest-return items cost nothing: posture cues, sleep timing, water, a tidy wardrobe, and better photo light. Spend only on what you will use every day, such as a cleanser, a moisturiser, and sunscreen.
Does a makeover mean changing how I look completely?
No. A makeover here means building on what you have: cleaner grooming, steadier habits, better posture, and clothes that fit. You stay recognisably you, better maintained.
